Your Real Life Is Your God Life

Have you ever looked at someone else’s walk with Jesus and thought, “I should be doing it that way”? Or maybe you’ve looked back at a past version of yourself—when the kids were smaller, when you had more time, when life felt simpler—and wished you could have that same closeness with God again.

It’s so important to know this: Your relationship with Jesus does not have to look like anyone else’s. And it doesn’t have to look like it did years ago. God wants a real relationship with the real you—right now, in this exact season.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV)

Stop Comparing, Start Living

We often compare our lives to other people’s lives. But just as often, we compare our lives to a past version of ourselves. “When I lived in that city… when I went to that church… when I had that community… that was the best time.”

But the truth is, the best time to have a real relationship with God is right now. He has something for you in this specific season that you don’t want to miss. Don’t let the memory of yesterday steal the gift of today.

Your God Life and Your Real Life Are One

Many of us have separated our “God life” from our “real life.” We think:

– Real life = kids, parents, deadlines, laundry, work, stress.

– God life = quiet, serene time with no distractions.

But that’s a false divide. God wants to meet you in the middle of your real life. Your God life is your real life. The responsibilities He has given you—your family, your community, your work—are not obstacles to spending time with Him. They are the very places where He wants to walk with you.

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” — Psalm 23:4 (NIV)

God is with you in the valley of laundry piles and to-do lists. He is with you in the chaos of carpool and the noise

of a busy home. You don’t have to escape your life to find Him. He is already there.

Be Faithful with What He’s Given You

So instead of waiting for perfect quiet, invite Jesus into your ordinary moments. Talk to Him while you fold clothes. Whisper a prayer before a meeting. Thank Him for the little blessings in the middle of a hectic day.

Your real life is your God life. He gave you these people, these tasks, this season. Be faithful with what He’s given you, and spend time with Him in the middle of it.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” — Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

You don’t need to look like anyone else. You don’t need to go back to a past season. The best time to know Jesus is right now—with the real you, in the real life He has placed you in.

A Prayer for Right Now

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that I don’t have to have a perfect relationship with You. Thank You that You don’t compare my walk with anyone else’s, and You don’t ask me to go back to a past season. You want me right here, right now—with all my laundry, my deadlines, my noise, and my tired heart.

Help me stop comparing and start living. Help me see that my real life is my God life. Teach me to talk to You while I drive, while I cook, while I work. Let me find You in the middle of the mess, not just in the quiet moments.

Give me eyes to see the gifts You’ve placed in this season—the people, the responsibilities, the small joys. And give me the courage to be faithful with what You’ve given me, spending time with You in the middle of it all.

I don’t want to miss what You have for me today. So draw me close, Lord. Let my relationship with Jesus be real, honest, and alive—right where I am.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
