Brothers and sisters,
We must understand that we serve a God who speaks things into existence. In the very beginning, God looked at the darkness and, rather than describing the void, He spoke light into it. As His children, we are created in His image, and our tongues carry a measure of that same creative authority. We often treat our words as mere reflections of our circumstances, but the truth is that your words are the blueprints for your future. When you walk through life simply reporting what you see, you are not just describing your reality; you are reinforcing it.
Too often, we identify with our struggles. We say, “I am depressed,” “I am an addict,” or “I am an alcoholic.” By using these phrases, we are not just stating a condition; we are pinning a label on our souls and inviting that struggle to stay. You are choosing to “say what you have,” and in doing so, you are giving those problems
permission to remain. But there is a higher way to live. You can choose to “have what you say.”
The Power of Your Words
It is so natural for us to describe our current reality. When we feel unwell, we say, “I have this sickness.” When we face a challenge, we say, “I have this problem.” While these statements might be factual descriptions of your current circumstances, repeating them constantly only anchors you to the very thing you want to escape.
The power of words is one of the greatest gifts we have been given. When you focus on the problem, you are simply reporting the news of your life rather than shaping your future. To experience a healing miracle or a breakthrough, you must shift your perspective. You have to stop describing the obstacle and start declaring the promise. People who experience true transformation are the ones who speak what they believe, not just what they see. This is the essence of faith declarations. By aligning your speech with God’s truth, you begin to pull your future into your present.
A Biblical Foundation
The Bible confirms this principle clearly in Mark 11:23:
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”
Notice that Jesus didn’t say you should talk about the mountain or complain about how big the mountain is. He instructed you to speak to it.
Moving Forward in Gratitude
Today, I encourage you to practice speaking life over your situation. Instead of highlighting the sickness, the depression, or the addiction, thank God for the healing and the freedom that is already on its way.
Gratitude is the bridge between where you are and where you are going. When you speak with a grateful heart, you are signaling to the world—and to yourself—that you trust God more than you trust your temporary circumstances.
A Prayer for Today:
Lord, thank You for Your promises. Today, I choose to stop speaking about my problems and start speaking about Your power. I am grateful for the healing, the peace, and the breakthrough that You are working out in my life right now. I believe it, so I say it. In Jesus, holy name, Amen.
Remember, your words are seeds. Plant them carefully, water them with faith, and watch what grows.
