Brothers and sisters,
Let me ask you something. When was the last time you let someone help you? Not the kind of help where you’re in control, but the kind where you had to admit, “I cannot do this alone”?
We live in a world that praises independence. We wear self-sufficiency like a badge of honor. But the Gospel tells a different story. Jesus did not come to save isolated individuals—He came to build a body, a family, a community where each member needs the other.
And here is the truth that can change everything: God often provides His presence through the hands of others. Accepting help can be a way of receiving His care, and asking for assistance can be an act of humility that draws us closer to community and to Him.
The Quiet Gift of Needing
We often think of faith as something we do alone—prayer, study, worship. But God designed us for connection. One of the most overlooked ways He shows His presence is through the hands, words, and time of other people.
Accepting help is not weakness; it is a doorway. When we allow someone to carry a burden, pray for us, or simply sit with us in silence, we are receiving God’s tangible care. The person offering help becomes an instrument of grace, and we become a recipient of divine love wrapped in human skin.
Asking for assistance, on the other hand, is an act of humility. It says, “I am not self-sufficient. I need you, and I need God.” That admission cracks open the walls of pride and invites community to enter. In that vulnerability, we draw closer to others—and closer to the One who created us for relationship.

A Prayer for Today
Lord, give me the courage to ask for help when I need it. Open my eyes to see Your presence in the people around me. Help me receive their care as a gift from You, and let my humility draw me closer to community and to Your heart. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
