Time is a Gift – Don’t Waste It

Grace and peace to you, dear friends.

Today, I want to talk about something that touches every single one of us—time. We all have it, we all use it, and yet we so often take it for granted. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 90:12, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” That’s a powerful prayer. It’s asking God to help us understand just how precious and fleeting our time really is.

We live in a busy world. We rush from one thing to the next, always thinking about tomorrow, always planning for the future. But what about today? What about the present moment? God doesn’t promise us tomorrow. He gives us today—right now—as a gift. And that gift is not meant to be wasted.

So, let me ask you something: Have you ever stopped to think about how precious time really is? It’s one of God’s greatest gifts to us—yet we often treat it like it’s endless. We say things like, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” or “I’ll call them later.” But the truth is, none of us knows how much time

we have left. That sounds a little heavy, but it’s actually a beautiful invitation to live fully today.

Think about it: one day, life will go on without us. Your last conversation with a loved one might feel completely ordinary—just a quick chat about dinner or the weather. Your last hug might come without any warning. The last sunrise or sunset you see might pass by without you realizing it’s the last. That’s not meant to scare you; it’s meant to wake you up.

Why Today Matters

God gives us today as a gift. Not to worry about tomorrow, but to live in it with purpose. The Bible says in James 4:14, “Why, You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” That verse isn’t meant to make us feel small—it’s meant to make us pay attention to what really matters.

So, don’t wait for the perfect moment to say “I love you.” That perfect moment may never come. Don’t put off forgiveness—it’s too heavy to carry around. Don’t delay kindness, even the small kind of kindness that costs you

nothing but a few seconds. Stop assuming you have unlimited tomorrows. Instead, live with gratitude for the today you’ve been given.

A Hopeful Way to Live

Living with this mindset isn’t morbid. It’s actually the most hopeful way to live! When you realize that every moment is a gift, you start to treasure the ordinary. A cup of coffee with a friend, a quiet morning prayer, a silly laugh with your kids, a walk outside—these aren’t just “ordinary” moments. They’re sacred.

Love deeply. Forgive freely. Make every ordinary day count. Because today’s moments may become tomorrow’s precious memories. And when you live that way, you’re not just passing time—you’re investing it in the things that last forever: love, faith, and relationships.

Prayer…

Lord, thank You for the gift of today. Help me not to waste it on worry or busyness. Give me the courage to say what needs to be said, forgive what needs to be forgiven, and love the way You love. Teach me to live with

gratitude and to make every moment count for Your glory. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
