Come as You Are: An Invitation to Honest Healing

Brothers and sisters,

Let us gather for a moment: God sees you. He knows the tiredness behind your smile and the weight you carry that no one else notices. You don’t have to act strong all the time. Strength is not pretending everything is fine. True strength is bringing your hurt into God’s hands.

Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” That means God doesn’t stay far away — He comes close into the cracked places of your life. Jesus also says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” This is an open invitation: come as you are. You don’t need to try harder to deserve rest.

Now let’s move into the devotional.

You were not made to keep everyone’s pain inside. Admit the hurt. Name it. Tell God and one safe person what you feel — anger, grief, shame. Speaking the truth takes the poison out of pain. Don’t hold on to everything until it makes you sick.

Forgiveness is a choice you make again and again. It doesn’t mean staying where you are hurt. It means freeing yourself from carrying the wound. Also learn to set wise boundaries so you can heal without more harm.

Try small, simple steps: pause for a few deep breaths each day so your body remembers how to rest; write a sentence about what hurts and offer it to God in prayer; reach out to a trusted friend or a counselor so you aren’t alone. These habits won’t fix everything at once, but they help you steady your heart and open to God’s healing.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I bring what I’ve hidden. Help me speak the truth, forgive when I’m ready, and receive the rest you offer. Heal my body, renew my mind, and open my heart to your love. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

You have permission — from God and from truth — to stop pretending. Let this be the season you stop proving your worth with silence and start practicing honesty, rest, and receiving God’s grace.
