Better Together: The Power of Encouragement

Dear Brothers and sisters

Let’s take a moment to think about how we are meant to live. We weren’t created to go through life all by ourselves. Think of us like a team or a family where everyone helps everyone else. When one person is sad or tired, the rest of us are there to lift them up. We are not just people living side-by-side; we are meant to be a support system for one another. Today, let’s stop trying to carry everything on our own and learn how to lean on the people God has put in our lives.

In our busy world, it is easy to start thinking that we have to handle everything on our own. We keep our problems like secrets, hiding our worries from everyone else. But God never wanted us to walk this path alone.

The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

The Beauty of Community

Real spiritual growth happens best when we are part of a Christian community. When we choose to lift each other up, we are showing others the love of Jesus.

Biblical encouragement is more than just saying “you’re doing great.” It is about helping someone else get closer to God. When you say a kind word, pray for someone, or just listen, you are helping build their faith. We are much stronger together than we are apart.

Question:

Why do we often feel scared to share our problems or ask for help?

Answer:

We often worry that being open makes us look weak or that we are being a bother to others. But in truth, sharing your struggles gives others a chance to show God’s love by helping you. Being honest about your life isn’t a failure; it is the best way to make real friends and get the support you need.

Application: How to Build Up Others Today

If you want to help bring people closer together, try these three simple steps:

1.  Reach Out: Send a text or call someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Ask them, “How can I pray for you this week?”

2.  Speak Life: Find one good thing you like about a friend or family member and tell them today. Your words can change the whole way their day goes.

3.  Be Present: Sometimes, the best way to “build someone up” is just to be there. Giving someone your time shows them that they matter and that they don’t have to face life alone.

Faith is a journey, and it is a journey meant to be shared. By choosing to encourage each other, we turn our separate walks into a hopeful, together journey.

A Prayer for Togetherness

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of friends and family. Help me to see others through Your eyes today. Give me the courage to be honest when I am struggling and the heart to notice when someone else needs a kind word. Take away the loneliness that keeps us apart and fill us with Your unity and grace. May our words and actions help build each other up, making our faith stronger as we walk this journey together.

In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
