Brothers and Sisters,
Let me ask you something that might sting a little: Who told you that you had to get your act together before God would give you peace? Who whispered that lie—that you need to clean up your mess, fix your habits, and reach some level of “good enough” before you can stand in His presence without shame?
Because here’s the truth, and I need you to hear it: God is not waiting for you to be perfect. He never was. The cross wasn’t a “maybe later” plan. Jesus didn’t die for polished people; He died for broken ones. And the moment you believe that, something shifts. You stop striving. You stop hiding. You stop trying to earn what’s already been paid for.
Friend, if you’re reading this today with a heavy heart, let me sit with you for a moment. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re not enough. To think, “If I just prayed more, read my Bible more, stopped losing my temper—then maybe God would be pleased with me.” But that’s not how grace works.
God has already done everything that needs to be done for you to have peace. Everything. Not 90%. Not “almost everything.” He finished it. Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). So why are you still trying to add your own effort to a completed work?
The only thing required for you to receive the peace of God is to lose your pride and accept it in the place of your weakness. That’s it. You don’t bring your strength; you bring your need. You don’t bring your resume; you bring your empty hands. And in that place of weakness, He meets you—not with a checklist, but with open arms.
Let me remind you of what Scripture says:
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Romans 5:1 (NIV)
Notice it doesn’t say “through our good behavior” or “through our perfect record.” It says through faith. Faith is simply trusting that what Jesus did is enough. And that trust is what opens the door to peace—peace that isn’t based on your performance, but on His promise.
So today, if you’ve been hiding from God because you feel unworthy, stop. Run to Him instead. He’s not angry. He’s not disappointed. He’s already made a way. All you have to do is accept it—right there in your weakness, your failure, your mess. Because that’s exactly where His grace shows up strongest.
Pray with me:
Lord, I’ve been trying so hard to earn what You already gave. Forgive me for believing the lie that I had to be perfect. Today, I let go of my pride. I receive Your peace—not because I deserve it, but because You love me. Thank You that I don’t have to be whole to come to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Remember: You are not a project God is fixing; you are a child He is holding. Peace isn’t a reward for finishing well—it’s a gift for starting honestly. Take it today.
