Brothers and sisters,
Today I want to talk about something that matters to every one of us: love that lasts. We hear a lot about love in songs, movies, and stories. But the kind of love that truly stands the test of time isn’t just a feeling—it’s a daily decision. It’s a choice to extend grace, even when it’s hard. And that’s what I want to share with you today.
So, let me ask you this: Have you ever noticed how the strongest relationships aren’t the ones where everything goes perfectly? They’re the ones where two people keep choosing grace—even when it’s hard.
Every single day, if you want a love that lasts, you have to make a choice. You have to choose to be merciful. Choose to be loving. Choose to be gracious. Choose to forgive. Choose to be patient. Choose to cut people some slack.
No relationship—whether it’s marriage, friendship, or family—will survive without grace. That’s just the truth. Because we all mess up. We all say things we regret. We all have off days. And if we hold every mistake against each other, love gets buried under resentment.
But grace? Grace is the soft place to land. It’s the “I know you’re not perfect, and I’m not either, so let’s figure this out together.” Grace is what makes love feel safe. It’s what keeps the door open when everything in you wants to slam it shut.
Maybe today you’re holding a grudge. Maybe you’re tired of being the one who always forgives. Maybe you’re wondering if it’s even worth it. I get it. Grace can feel costly. But the Bible reminds us that we love because God first loved us—and His love is full of mercy and patience.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
— Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
That verse is a daily call. It doesn’t say “bear with each other when it’s easy.” It says be patient, be humble, be gentle—in love. That’s a choice. A daily choice.
So today, choose grace. Choose to let go of that small annoyance. Choose to speak kindly instead of sharply. Choose to forgive before the sun goes down. Because a love that lasts isn’t built on perfection—it’s built on grace, one choice at a time.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for showing me grace every single day. Help me to extend that same grace to the people I love—especially when it’s hard. Soften my heart, give me patience, and remind me that love is a daily choice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
